Call for Papers: Nomads, Ethics, and Intercultural Dialogue
Nomadic Studies invites contributions to an upcoming feature on "Nomads, Ethics, and Intercultural Dialogue", to be published in Volume 23, which build on papers and discussion from the 2023 Conference on Nomadic Ethics and Intercultural Dialogue.
The very nature of ethics and morality has long been at the centre of debates among social scientists and practitioners, ranging from discussions of virtue ethics to the “ethical turn”. This selection of papers will explore the ethics of so-called nomads and examine how the ethics of nomadic peoples contribute to intercultural dialogue. Submitted articles may produce knowledge on how “nomadic ethics” – encompassing ethical practices, beliefs, theories, and culture – are being changed, re-established, or re-institutionalized in nomadic societies across Inner Asia and beyond.
With the aim of furthering intercultural dialogue, we are seeking submissions from academic researchers, practitioners, and members of nomadic communities representing a wide range of perspectives and methods. We invite two types of submission on this theme:
- Longer research articles (5000-7000 words), which will be accompanied by brief comments and responses by the section editors and authors.
- Short reports (up to 2000 words), which will communicate findings or methodological reflections from ongoing research.
All submissions will be peer-reviewed through a single-blind review process.
Authors of accepted articles will be provided language editing support where applicable.
